19 May 2026 – Assalamualaikum w.b.t. and Salam Sejahtera.|
AJIL, 19 May – The Higher Education Travel Programme @Terengganu in conjunction with the Handover Ceremony of the MADANI Adoption Village of Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) was launched through strategic collaboration between the Ministry of Higher Education (KPT) with higher education institutions, government agencies and the local community.
The selection of Kampung Menerong as the MADANI Adoption Village reflects UMT’s ongoing commitment to comprehensive and sustainable community development. This effort is reinforced by the selection of several schools in the surrounding area as UMT STEM Adoption Schools. In addition, UMT’s mentoring projects such as mushroom cultivation and kelulut farming have had a direct impact on the socio-economic improvement of the local population.
Along with this, the Higher Education Travel Programme @Terengganu successfully brought together expertise from various IPTs to provide content to the local community that includes education, motivation, STEM, digital literacy, skills training and entrepreneurship, health programmes and environmental sustainability. At the same time, UMT also highlighted the involvement of students through the Lasykar Alam@UMT Squad in implementing sustainability projects with the community, thus strengthening ongoing environmental conservation efforts.
UMT remains committed to continuing to strengthen the community empowerment agenda through an inclusive, progressive and impactful approach to ensure that the benefits of development can be enjoyed comprehensively, especially by rural communities.
