Knowledge Transfer Programme (KTP)
Introduction
The Knowledge Transfer Program (KTP) Transfer Scheme is designed to promote the transfer of knowledge generated in IPTA to the target community & industry for the purpose of empowering the general public’s knowledge such as:
- KTP is able to support mutually beneficial collaboration between universities and industry (including government agencies/non-government agencies/public sector).
- KTP is able to provide a platform for the exchange of tangible and intangible intellectual property, expertise, learning and skills between academics and industry.
- KTP encompasses forms of interaction including joint studies, consultations, education, training, graduate development, conferences, sharing of physical facilities and student placements.
This Grant application must demonstrate IPTA collaboration with industry/community on mutually beneficial initiatives:
- Academia: able to incorporate the latest knowledge from industry in teaching, learning, research and consultations.
- Industry: able to use IPTA resources to improve their business capabilities and economic benefits.
- Community: able to leverage the knowledge generated by IPTA to improve the quality of life of a community.
- Graduate Trainees: enhance the personal and professional development of students and graduates.
Industrial Knowledge Transfer Grant Scheme (KTP)
The purpose of this grant scheme is how Malaysian public universities can assist in conveying and transferring knowledge generated in their respective public universities to the industry. The knowledge to be transferred must be based on certain principles that must be determined.
Community Knowledge Transfer Grant Scheme (KTP)
The purpose of this grant scheme is to convey and transfer knowledge generated in the respective IPTAs to the target community that can improve the well-being of the community. Projects can be targeted at public institutions such as schools, training centers, higher education institutions especially public institutions, volunteer organizations that focus on community development and so on. The entire project budget can be based on this grant application. However, if the community can demonstrate commitment to the project cost in the form of financial and non-financial commitments, special considerations can be used as a grant selection criteria.

- Education: increasing the level of education in a given region.
- Economic benefits for the industrial sector in the identified sector.
- Sustainability and green technology initiatives Disabled or Disabled Groups (PWDs.
- Development of relevant industry curricula (for high-impact sectors).

KTP Industry Grant Application Evaluation Criteria
The program applied for must be a program that can produce knowledge transfer that has an impact on the industry and the project’s target group. The program must have one or more of the following, through:-
Implementing projects with industry on an ongoing basis and having measurable results and increased capacity of the recipient industry or target group, strategic collaboration, two-way knowledge transfer process.
Industry/Community KTP GRANT Targets and Outcomes
Each program must set targets relevant to the objectives and purposes of the KTP program to measure the success of the program as follows:-
- Knowledge Transfer Results – This KTP award must list the following results based on the set targets: Results to the company or industry (Example: increased revenue or profit of the company), results to the community or communities (Example: improved quality of life of the target community), return to IPTA (Recognition for academics), Human Capital Development for Graduate Interns (Marketability of Graduate Interns).
- Publications – All programs must produce publications in the form of technical reports. Acknowledgement of the KTP award must be clearly stated in each published report.
- Intellectual Property Rights
- 3/4 Intellectual Property resulting from the granting of KTP shall be jointly owned by the Malaysian Government, Industry and IPTA subject to mutual agreement
- 3/4 Management of intellectual property is the responsibility of IPTA
- 3/4 Commercialization proceeds from program projects funded by KTP grants and other sources shall be shared according to the breakdown of grant funding and contributions in other forms for the project.
- 3/4 For IPTA, commercialization proceeds shall be distributed in accordance with existing commercialization policies.
